Adaptability
Following the teachings
of Tedd Bensen, who speaks on 'disentanglement' or the
elimination of the way plumbing, wiring, ductwork, structures, and
finish details become inextricably entangled in conventional
construction, our homes offer the following features to ensure
adaptability to the needs of generations to come:
 |
No load bearing
interior walls. All interior partitions are non-structural.
They can be moved before, during, or after construction. The
determination of the floor plan is completely up to the owner.
Very few homes can boast of this feature. |
 |
Perimeter wiring
chases. A perimeter wiring chase incorporated behind base
trim permits removal, relocation, or installation of new
outlets, computer terminals, telephones, security, or other
wiring at any time present or future without any tear-out of
walls or finishes. |
 |
Independent
Structural System. The timber frame is a 'stand-alone'
structural system, with heavy steel reinforcing at key points
including post-to-foundation anchorage, it is designed to
withstand hurricane force winds, earthquakes, or blizzards. But
it is also constructed in such a way that if future
modifications to the structural insulated panel (SIP) skin
should be desired, they do not affect the integrity of the
timber frame building skeleton. |
